What Is AAHA?

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), founded in 1933, is the only organization that accredits veterinary facilities in the United States and Canada.

Unlike human medical facilities, veterinary hospital accreditation is voluntary and can be challenging to achieve. While veterinary hospitals must meet applicable state and federal requirements to practice, AAHA accreditation adds an additional layer of rigorous standards and evaluation focused specifically on the quality, safety, and consistency of veterinary care.When a veterinary hospital displays the AAHA logo, it signifies that the hospital has undergone a comprehensive evaluation and met over 900 rigorous standards established by AAHA.
